Good Food Box

The Students’ Union Volunteer Services Campus Food Bank is now an official depot for the Good Food Box program and our services are open to the campus community!

The Good Food Box program is run through the Community Kitchen Program of Calgary and aims to provide community members with greater access to affordable, nutritious and sustainable fresh fruits and vegetables. The program purchases produce directly from local farmers and wholesalers. The program is run by volunteers that pack the boxes full of fruits and vegetables to be delivered to depots across the city.

2011-2012

Quality Money is an initiative of the Students' Union (SU) to provide funding to projects at the University of Calgary (U of C) that enhance the overall student experience. Quality Money was originally attached to the tuition consultation decisions announced at the University Board of Governors meeting in December 2003 and subsequently the Quality Money initiative was first introduced in 2004.

For 2011-2012, $1,673,379 was allocated, funding 19 projects:

Candidate Forums: Live

The candidate forum for Vice President Academic will be held in the South Courtyard of MacEwan Student Centre Friday, March 1 at noon. We will also be streaming the video live via Livestream. Keep an eye on the LOOP plasma displays located throughout the food court for the video live-feed and bring your body, in meatspace, down to the South Courtyard (stage), grab some popcorn, and listen to what the candidates have to say.

MacEwan Student Centre is the heart of the University of Calgary campus – a home away from home that serves thousands of students each week. Managed by your Students’ Union (SU), the building is a hive of activity that includes office, retail and event space.

Wow – I can’t believe the semester is almost over! The past few months have flown by and it’s already time for exams.

As students ourselves, your Students’ Union knows just how stressful exam time can be. We are committed to making sure that you know where to turn when you’re in need of some extra help.

Look out for your VP Student Life, Hayley Wade, and your VP Academic, Kenya-Jade Pinto, while you’re studying as they will be distributing de-stress packs full of goodies designed to keep you focused and healthy.

CAUS Wins Big for Student Voters in Alberta

The Government of Alberta tabled the Elections Accountability Amendment Act today in the Legislature and among the many changes is one that aims to make it easier for Alberta’s post-secondary students to vote. If passed, the new law will allow students to vote either in the electoral district where they lived prior to their studies or where they live while going to school.
