Hours of Operation
- Our hours vary throughout the year. It’s best to contact us first and set up an appointment.
- The Food Bank is closed weekends and holidays.
Policies and Procedures
In order to ensure that we can serve those in need of support in an orderly and timely manner, the Food Bank operates under the following policies and procedures.
- A valid campus ID is required for hamper pick-up. Appropriate identification includes a student ID, staff ID, alumni card, current student timetable, letter from your department or a current pay stub.
- Clients may access the service once every 30 days (3 times in Fall, 3 in Winter, 1 in Spring, 1 in Summer).
- Exact appointment time for a hamper pick-up must be scheduled. Absolutely no ‘dropping in’ is permitted.
- When a client is unable to come for their scheduled pick-up time, they must call the SU Campus Food Bank to reschedule. Hampers that have not been picked up in 3 days (without notification from client) will be unpacked, and clients will have to wait an additional 30 days to access the service again.
- Personal information is used to determine how often a client has accessed the Campus Food Bank.
- Clients will be required to answer a series of statistical questions.
- The Campus Food Bank reserves the right to request 24 hours before a hamper becomes available.
Policies for clients with dependents only
- Clients may claim up to 2 dependents over the age of 19.
- Age ID is required for ALL members of the household.
- Roommates are required to request hampers separately.
-
Only clients with children 18 and under will receive dairy coupons; these coupons are given at the time of the hamper pick-up.

Hours of Operation
The SU Information Centre/Lost and Found is open weekdays from 10:00AM to 4:00PM, September to April, and is closed on weekends and holidays.
There is a 24 hour drop box for items found. Items not claimed in 14 days will be recycled.
SU Volunteer Tax Program
During tax season (March-April) SUVS offers its popular Volunteer Tax Program. The program provides free tax filing services to members of the campus community with annual incomes less than $30,000. The program is open to all campus students, faculty and staff.
The SU Volunteer Services Tax Program is run by volunteers who are all CRA trained and can e-file or provide a mailable return to clients.
Any member of the campus community can use this free service provided individuals meet certain criteria. Volunteers are unable to accept returns for the following:
- Individual income over $30,000
- Rental income
- Complex investments & capital gains (will accept interest & dividend income)
- Personal business income
- Foreign income
- Any other returns deemed unsuitable by the volunteers
The times and locations of these free tax clinics will be announced as tax season approaches.
Q: The SU Centre for Sexual and Gender Diversity
Opened in November of 2010, as part of the MacEwan Student Centre renovation project, ‘Q’ Centre is a new resource centre for the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered and queer (GLBTQA) communities here on campus.
This new centre provides a safe space for those who need it while also offering resources and volunteer opportunities. Drop by and see what we’re all about or join our team and have a hand in shaping this exciting new program!
