This session will introduce you to the essentials of RDM, and introduce you to principles, tips, and tools to help you effectively and consistently manage your data.

Hosted by NIGERIAN STUDENTS’ ASSOCIATION, AFRICAN CARIBBEAN ASSOCIATION, ETHIOPIAN-ERITREAN ASSOCIATION: This workshop will provide students with an explanation on the importance of diversity in higher education, the tools, and further accessibility that should exist for minority-groups that are pursuing roles of authority in the field of research. We will also focus on why it is important for minority-groups to pursue higher leadership roles in the Field of Research because of the benefits it creates and the new perspective it shapes in the field. We will discuss the lack of conversation occuring in relation to why there is an underrepresentation of minority groups in the role of research leadership positions on campus, the importance of inclusivity, and how it creates inclusive policies on campus.

Hosted by INNOVATE CALGARY: Do you have an innovative idea? Are you curious about entrepreneurship? Maybe even want to start a business? How does research get applied in the world to make a positive impact? This session will provide a broad overview of these ideas and the supporting initiatives that help our campus community members along the path from research/idea to impact. We’ll discuss some examples where undergrads are involved as inventors, as employees, as investors, and more. Our panel will address business concepts, planning, entrepreneurial training, raising investments, and stewarding intellectual property and strategy. We’ll have plenty of time for discussion, so come with questions!
